Angela McCrum, our Toastmasters District 54 Spring 2020 Communication and Leadership Award Recipient, serves LivingWell Cancer Resource Center (www.livingwellcrc.org) as its Executive Director. Angela has worked in oncology for over 25 years and considers it a privilege to be a part of patients’ lives during their cancer journey.
Angela started her career as a radiographer in the frontline battle against cancer. Because she enjoyed building relationships with patients and earning their trust, she continued her training to become a radiation therapist and eventually completing her master’s degree in Health Care Administration. Prior to transitioning to LivingWell, Angela was the Director of the Northwestern Medicine Proton Center, and was part of the team that provided the first proton treatments to cancer patients within Illinois.
Being part of the LivingWell team has brought Angela’s career full circle. She has returned to providing the support and compassion to those who are diagnosed with cancer. LivingWell is a place where cancer patients, their families and caregivers can receive counseling, stress-relief, medical updates and nutritional information as well as participate in specialized support groups, which are all free of charge. A cancer diagnosis is a time of uncertainty for patients and their families. LivingWell serves to provide hope, support and education. Living Well celebrated its 15th anniversary last Fall and has also expanded into the Warrenville area. Regardless of where the patients with cancer receive their medical care, LivingWell is available as a community resource.
